Delhi

Just to let you know we arrived here after a 14 hour flight without incident. Well, plenty of incidents but no worries. I am pretty speechlees right now after a day in the city and honestly ... close to tears. This is going some for me as I have seen alot of poverty and sadness but this!.. I don't know. I need to process it before I say too much. The mother asleep in the street with her naked infant also asleep as people stepped over them says something.

I am on the free computer here at La Sagrita but I cannot post photos. I have some good ones. I have one of some men on pilgrimage walking from the sacred river Ganges carring water on a pole decorated with orange and yellow marigolds. This is many, many miles.

One woman I met today has been inan ashram for a week and she will take me there when we return to Delhi after Leh. We went to the largest Mosque in India and also the Red Fort. A monument to war is not my real interest but the architecture was spectacular and I'll take that.

TAC & BKB & ALB...all my love and more later.

So glad that you made it there safely! Now that you have indeed cast off and are underway - I can only say that you are an inspiration! Know that upon your return, you have many people waiting to take your lines. I am blessed to be one of them.
As for the poverty that you are witnessing and what it is like to take it in -- I think sometimes, there simply are no words.
Love to you -
B

Hi Deb - Glad to hear you arrived safely in Delhi. I can only imagine the sights you must be seeing and also understand how difficult it is for you to witness some of them. But it sounds like you are doing okay so far. I look forward to hearing about it all as I live vicariously through you! Big hugs - Jan

Deb!

I'm just back from time spent with Katherine who has just returned from Soweto with a similar experience of the juxtaposition of extreme poverty and her privilege, even in the hardship of being in a third world country. She says it takes many weeks of de-briefing to reconcile the inequities of this life and this world. Be patient and kind to yourself as you travel both inward and outward.

You are an inspiration, always and in all ways.

dear love,
Meredith
